The symbol was designed in 1958 by Gerald Holtom, . When the war started in 1954 no one thought it would go on as long as it had. During the 1960ââ¬â¢s the war hit high gear and the government started or restarted the draft for the service. Malcolmââ¬â¢s approach to achieving his goals were not quite as peaceful as MLK Jr. Malcolm X thought, along with others, that were members of the NOI that the white man were keeping the African Americans, down by not letting them enjoy the same rights as th e whites. Malcolm ââ¬Å"encouragedâ⬠his followers to rise above the oppression of the white world in any way they could in order to gain what he felt they deserved. President Kennedy was in Texas travel with his wife campaigning for his re-election, which most people were confident he would win. While driving down the road in Dallas near the book depository a shot was fired at the presidentââ¬â¢s motorcade, sadly it struck the president in the head. His wife was seated next to him, tragically he did not make it, and President Johnson was sworn in as President. One of his first acts as president was to create a committee to investigate JFKââ¬â¢s assassination.
